Does anyone know if there was a certian year of Cherokee with the solid alxe shafts that also uses the 297 u-joints.

Here's the deal:

'84-'90 equiped with NP231 TC's had the two piece shafts for 260 u-joints

Any year with ABS in the front has 297's

All XJ's equiped with NP242 TC's had solid shafts

If you want to pick up a set and need to give a year and type to a parts dealer, tell them it's like a '91 or newer with ABS.

TJ's use the same shaft too

in 95 they switched to 297, and 94+ do not have the disconect axle shafts.

just wandering does the cherokee have a reverse rotaion 30 like the yj's

i know the HP versions are reverse cut.
