I may be Crazy..... But this guy on the Jeep-L is telling a newbie there it is OK to Use a Oil Pressure gage to test FUEL Pressure.............am I nuts or does this sound a tad dangerouse

Other then contamintion (wich is not a dangours problem) should be no big deal.

Depends on the fuel pressure too. If its a carbed engine then a OP gauge probably isnt that accurate at the lower fuel pressures of a carbed engine.

My Snap-on pressure kit uses one gauge to check oil, fuel and other pressures

First off, I am the guy who is going to use a cheapie mechanical oil pressure gauge to temporarily check the pressures for the feed and return lines on the Holley Projection I am running on the 360 in my CJ. I think I kinked the return line when I fixed the fuel sending unit because I am now running really rich and the adjustments on the computer do not have any effect. BTW, on the Jeep-L I am not a newbie, but on the POR I have not posted enough to get out of Newbiedom :flipoff2:

How is he using it? Mechanical guage or electrical? The only way its dangerous is if you run a pressure line for a mechanical gauge inside the vehicle. If the line were to rupture you'd have have high pressure fuel spraying inside. That being said, I ran a mechanical oil pressure gauge as a fuel pressure gauge in an EFI mustang for several years. It worked great and I didn't have any problems, but it's really not safe to do so. If he's just using it temporarily to test his fuel pressure I'd say go for it but be careful not to route the line where it can get cut and have a passenger armed with a fire extinguisher during the test.
