Hi everyone

I work for a television company who make a program for TLC Discovery called "Junkyard Wars" (basically it's a show where teams of engineers are challenged to build machines in ten hours using only the junk that they can find in a scrapyard).

We are currently making a brand NEW tv program which is called "ULTIMATE MACHINE COMBAT”, and we are looking for engineers, drivers and teams of people who have a talent for working with machinery, engines and electronics. We would like to set them the challenge of building the ultimate off-road vehicle to take part in a worldwide competition to be televised later this year.

We will give you one month and approx $3,000 US to create your dream machine in your spare time. You can have as much or as little help as you like, but only three team members will be flown to our racecourse in the UK to compete against teams from around the globe. Your machine must dodge obstacles, survive collisions, and withstand all the elements — basically, in the words of our chief engineer, “be totally smashproof!”.

People of color!! LOL How many clear people do you see running around? I have color, it's an off white unless I have been in the sun too much and then it's red. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Hi guys
Thanks for the warm welcome. I do believe that this is my first ever posting session! (Unbelievable I'm sure to you guys!)

This is definitely gonna be a lot of fun. You'll get to pretty much design and build whatever you like... imagination being your only limitation!

I can't wait to see what you all will come up with!

All the best
Combat Jax

P.S. My closing paragraph is basically to let you all know that this show is totally open to everyone. We're looking for teams from all over the world and from every background.

I have to wonder about the part on the web site that says "you can spend more if you want to"... So what is to stop one group from taking your $3k, and just enetering their Scorpion, or Sniper, or whatever that is already built, and costs well over $50k?

Wow! I can't type fast enough to answer your questions but I'll try my best as they pop up...

1. Yes you're right there's nothing to stop someone entering an expensive vehicle or even a pre-existing vehicle in the competition except that someone with a far less expensive vehicle may mush it into the ground ... tee hee ;)
On the other hand that may be a risk you're willing to take if you think your vehicle is up to the job, and can beat the competition!

2. You can build your machine out of ANYTHING. The wilder the idea the better. Basically build it to win it!

3. Our course will be designed to test every aspect of your machine. It will need to handle every type of surface you can imagine, every type of hill gradient and withstand impacts to front back and sides of your machine. This is NO ordinary demolition derby or hillclimb though, these games will test strength, durability, speed, maneuverability and control. They're top secret at the moment, but we'll be revealing details closer to the time when you start designing and building your ultimate machine of combat (or "UMC") in April / May.

4. Your team needs three members - although whilst you're building it you can have as many people as you like help you... family, friends, the bloke down the road who's good with a spanner (yes, I'm British before you ask!). The only thing we ask you to ensure is that the three members of your team (who will be competing in the show) will also have good mechanical skills so that they can fix, or repair your machine if it breaks down in the UK.

Hope this helps shed a little more light on the subject.
For further details give me a ring: 818 817 5215 or post me a message.

Cheers
Combat Jax
P.S. Please excuse the repeat posting regarding US teams - an error of a newbie web poster!

We get "to piece it together", Geez I know a few good 63Y and 63H I think we could piece together a M1A2 Abrams pretty easy. Could probable even come up with most the parts, if I just look...

You boys think your Chieftan Main battle Tank could match that?

PS. reactive armor doesn't dent.:usa: ;)
