putting a 15" rim on a 3/4T D44 & a FF14 bolt (with the big drums, but plan on converting to 1/2T D44 discs)
can I go with a standard 4" backspacing or do I need something more like 2.5" or 3"??
Also do I need to take extra consideration of the GM TRE's hitting the rim with the 15" if so what then is the most backspacing I can have??

I have 15x8's with 4.125" of backspacing ($25 ea from summitracing.com). I doubt you could go much more without hitting the TRE. I had to grind the calipers & brackets for the wheels to clear.

BenW do you have a mfg and part number? I cant find them on the website or in the catalog..?? I am seriously thinking 15x8 with my 39.5's. thanks!!
