: Built '94-'02 Range Rover's ?
Team L.C.O. 07-29-2004, 08:51 AM Sorry, no tech...
Is it any real & built '95-'01 Range Rover's out there. Not those stock, posing, kindergarden SUV's. I know there is some of the early model's. But it would be cool to see some of the newer expensive one's too. So post up :flipoff2:
Edit: Gave the thread a more fitting name..
Edit #2: Wasn't able giving the thread a new name
64rovr 07-29-2004, 09:16 AM I've thought about it... theres a clean '96 4.6 on ebay right now, buy it now for $5500

wilsby 08-06-2004, 11:18 AM I've done some to mine. 265/75-16 BFG M/T's, Safety Devices rack w 4 Hellas, Safety Devices tank skid, TrueTracs front and rear, SS custom exhaust w single muffler and exit to the side. Mudguards removed, some trimming of spoilers. Maxi-Drive rear halfshaft are waiting for installation, and I have steel for rock sliders and some hi tensile stuff destined for a center skid. A 3.5" Safari snorkel head for some distand future project, a winch, large yellow top and battery separator are earmarked for the truck etc. It's a slow process, the Defender is getting priority and my Zuk trialer keeps falling apart.
I used the P38 as a tow truck from Sweden to Eurotrial in Austria, a little excursion to Croatia and back. 5000 km in ten days with a trailer, and it's a really comfortable an quite ride, despite oversized M/T's and "sporty" exhaust. No issues at all crossing the Alps with stock gearing and 32"s on a truck designed for 29"s.
Havenīt offroaded it much yet, but pulling the trailer in a foot of Austrian mud was fine.

Got a pic ? Sounds cool :cool2:
Nice to see some (more) from Scandinavia :)
wilsby 08-06-2004, 06:23 PM I'll snap a pic of it's current state tomorrow. It's intended to be mild, so don't expect too much. But IMHO it's starting to look cool for a P38, and the truck is definitely growing on me.
It all started with me getting curious about V8 and auto for offroading, as opposed to the diesel, manual everything Defender. I test drove a '86 D90 with a 3.9, but that was an overpriced project truck. So I stumbled on this, and for little more money I got a ten years younger truck that is now the family favorite AND a long lasting project platform.
wilsby 08-07-2004, 07:52 AM Have pics now, but no red star. Anyone want to post for me?

SeaRover 08-07-2004, 10:22 AM LMAO - Pendy you are one of a kind!
wilsby 08-07-2004, 12:06 PM Pendy, pics coming. Nothing of my sister, though. But she sent me a copy of Tractor Power Magazine, a title her employer publishes. Homebuilt 8WD monsters etc. I know you're interested.

Oh I am interested, but not in the 8wd monsters.

borregobandito 08-08-2004, 12:09 AM I talked to bill at GBR about 3 months ago and he said that Trachtech wouldn't be making a TT for the P38A diffs.
Apparently something has changed...
anyone know about availability in the states?
thx.

You need a spacer ring for the ring gear very few vendors know about. With that, a standard Rover TT will fit. Ashcroft helped me out. I also sourced longer hi tensile bolts to engage all threads in the TT.
Pendy, the hitch comes off with one bolt. Put the bolt back with a piece of thick pipe around it, and you have a solid recovery point.
SeaRover 08-08-2004, 10:26 AM -nice s-type
-even nicer 110
-re: diggler tow ball
tech: I wonder if ARB's spacer for series 4.7 R&P to coiler carriers is the same thickness?
that's a seriously nice fleet you have going there, Wilsby  get us some action shots of the NSR pulling that zuk out of the mud ... without the trailer part :flipoff2:

I'd rather plow with that phalyc symbol, then remove it for a recovery point.
Diggler as in Dirk
wilsby 08-08-2004, 01:44 PM I measured the spacer - and forgot. But it is in the range of 8 mm thick. It shouldn't be hard to fab one if you have access to a lathe. It is to compensate for the unusually thin ring gear of the P38. Or just order them from Ashcroft, not a hi cost item. I paid GBP 25 apiece.
The S-type is not "Hollywood spec", just a 3.0 manual w solid BRG paint, but I like it.
I guess I don't need more cars, but I'm seriously tempted anyway. The Swedish military is selling off its portaled Volvo's, and the open top anti tank C303's sell for $5000, practially mint with less than 12,000 miles. Factory cage included. The 90 mm recoilless gun is gone, though. :flipoff2:

wilsby 08-08-2004, 03:05 PM Just a little. Front wheels touch at the rear of the arc, and rear wheels inside on the plastic at full stuff. I'm thinking going for a little thicker body mounts and getting 25 mm spacers for the wheels, and cut the plastic at the rear of the front arcs when I do the sliders. I could also fold the lip a little and hide it with soft plastic fender extensions I have on the shelf, still debating this.

That is so sweeet :smokin:
I see he ditched the Air Bag's, and mounted Coil's.
Damn I wish I had the money for a RR...
Plan your work to get a Rover and then work your plan to get a Rover
As with most Rover owners, divorce and misery to probably follow. :flipoff2:
Bertha the Cruiser 09-05-2004, 11:18 AM I got to wheel with a P38 yesterday...Driven by Kim Vollers...she wheeled this rig hard and actually added a nice dent the size of a dinner platter where the VTXS decal is yesterday to compliment the dents on the passenger side LOL

While the styling of the P38 fails to move me, I was impressed with the truck's performance for sure.

wilsby 09-05-2004, 11:51 AM Looks like it's time for sliders!
Did you notice what size wheels and tires?
Bertha the Cruiser 09-05-2004, 04:14 PM Kim doesn't usually wheel the P38...her husband Peter has a huge RRC on 37" SSR's and that sees the bulk of the trailwork.
But sliders etc would be nice I'm sure! No more EAS...running bilsteins and spings.
Booger Weldz 09-13-2004, 07:54 PM i just wheeled the rubicon with a late 90's discovery. its on 285 bfg mt's, has a tube bumpers, sliders, etc...winch....shreaded his spider gears in the rear third, pulled it out at buck island lake, welded them up and went home with a locker:D:D

Gawddamnation I could go for some Big G's breakfast right now.
dmarch 10-06-2004, 11:29 AM I could too. Best value for the money. Especially on a cold Feb. day before hitting the trails.

When I was at school at Unity I went once a week for dinner...all the Colby students just stared at us Unity freaks....

This is making me hungry!
French Toast...
I cannot speak enough on the merits of Big G's. It's like a temple of Land-Roverdom, kind of like Bruce Fowler's old shed. If I don't make it to Winter Romp this year I'm gonna die.
