Remember that time you drank a quart of half-and-half, ate three cans of dinty moore cold, slugged a half case of burgie beer and polished that bottle of grocery store tequila in the plastic bottle? Well, that's the sulfur smell that's in my cab about every 10th time I start my 87 fj60. Wierd thing. I start up, and while it's cranking, there's a sharp. short sound of a pressure letoff. Like "Phhhht!" Then about 5 seconds later the cab smells like burned matches and the above brew. Now I ain't saying I haven't done my fair share in the seat cushion, but this is new. The sound is either from the engine compartment, or maybe that vent tube that runs from the distributor to the firewall on the passenger side. Anyone ever experience this?

When the 2F was still in mine it did the same thing I never did find out what it was I finally swaped in a TBI chevy sorry this does not help much I am sure. Probly somthing to do with that choice smog set up on those 2Fs.

Fart smell sounds like post-catalytic converter exhaust. I'd check for any loose tuble clamps, etc. Maybe a hole in the system? I imagine at speed the smell goes away...

check for any dead animals...jeffs cruiser had this funny...whooly mamoth type of a smell. never did find it...was pretty fawkin cold though!:flipoff2:

mine does the same thing but not with any consistancy. because of the smell I attributed it to emissions blow by:D (sounds good anyway).

I never found the source and when I asked, I usually got replies like the posts above :rolleyes:
