Hey yall,
I want to get certified once I get out of college. (ASE I think? If Im not getting letters mixed up.)
Anyway, where do you get certified? Are their better places to get certified at than others?
How much does it cost?
Thanks a million! I am really interested in doing this but I dont really know where to start.

The best thing you can do is contact your local junior college automotive tech program, they can tell you when and where the various ASE exams are given, and there are a lot of them. For a complete list of tasks for ASE certification go to: http://www.caat.org/trainer/task_train.htm .
There are also a variety of test prep courses available, one of the better ones can be found at: http://www.asetestpreparation.com/index.asp .
Hope this helps:) .

Not far from where you are now, and is hands down the best start for something like this in the area...

<FONT COLOR="Red"> I'd say to visit some of the places where you think you might want to work and ask them what kind of certification(s) they look for. This should get you better acquainted as to which certifications are well paid or being sought after by employers in the area you want to work. This kind of "market research" will make it a bit easier to find a job too. </FONT c>

Yup, ASE is the normal/only certification for mechanics.
There is also dealer specific training...
ASE tests are given in most areas twice per year.
You need the test and hours of experiance in the area (mech) that you are cert. in.
Tech school hours count at 1/2 rate?

Almight DRM you rang? Yes i am currently going to NADC right now. In order to get your ASE certification you HAVE to have 2 years of work experiance. If you deside to go to NADC they pay for 2 of your ASE tests and you get 1 year of experiance toward your ASE certification. As far as the tests there are dozens of them. Im not sure of the testing dates times or prices.

Find the Snap on truck, he will sell you books on the tests and inside the books it lists where and when the tests are
