Well, I guess ran into. He slammed into a 5 and spun off of him and slammed into me. Sounded like head on train wreck. I saw it coming and tried to jam out of the way. Low range, 130:1, solid ice=go nowhere fast. Got hit so hard my dog started shaking. Luck of it is though, the ends of our 2x4 bumpers is what hit. It was a hard slam, but only a dent in the capped end of my bumper and some scratches on the corner guard. Could have been real bad if I hadn't moved as far as I did. Cant say the same about the 5 though. Jeff's rig is quite the terminator!

Mike- I think holding it at the bowl would be a great idea. With the current El Dorado Forest lawsuit issue, I think it would be smart to consider a site for the event that can better handle the crowd that is sure to show up.

What ever site is chosen- count me in for clean-up crew.

We can make a point system that will take into consideration, if you were able to get it to the trail head, and then set a point value, for how far in you make it, before abandoning, and gonig on foot, or having to turn back.
Sort of a "Carnage to get to the Con"

You have point there. With all the pressure from the greenies already being applied to the Con, it is possible a big"outlaw" event could be detrimental to the cause. Maybe an alternate site? JV? just a suggestion.

I didn't say to make it a "CalROCS" event, but since he has a system down, why not utilize a good source? BigRICH is a friend that hangs with everyone and is "local", so why not? This didn't seem out of line to ask.

Originally this was a smack talk competition to see which club had their shit together. It wasn't necessarily a local thing. I believe many of the Tinbenders are from down south (don't know them personally unfortunately). SNORT, although not local either, is a great club from up North and we have all wheeled with them. Same thing with RCRC and MHT. Great people to wheel with and would be fun to compete against. We are all friends between clubs, but we want to see which club has the shit to be on top. Last year it was POR. This year it will be SRC :). Who will be next year is unknown.

If there needs to be a limit on teams, then lets go for it. What makes sense for limits? Last year was great. It was friendly competition at its best. It still could be improved upon of course, so what would make it better without making it a pro-competition?

Funny you should mention "local" things. Wasn't it in fact the SNORT club that donated a bunch of money to FOTR for the last clean up? I don't remember specifics of the story, and the thread is long gone, but someone had the pleasure of walking into the FOTR meeting they had with another organization with a shovel in one hand and a check in the other. When the two older ladies asked who SNORT was and why they were so generous, I would have loved to see their faces when they were told it was the Sweaty Nipples Off-Road Team.

my offficial thought on the matter:

well last year was cool and went off with out a hitch but after seeing the size of the crowd and when the helicopter landed and was full of armed law enforcment and they were asking for camo, i decided that i was not going to promote or take part in this years event. after running in cal-rock last weekend it dawned on me. me need to have our annual club chalange to be held in conjunction with a cal-rock event.

so what do you think rich. every body competes like normal but we have a extra team entry. the best combined score of 3 club members wins the honors of "top wheeling club" i think we should do it once a year

Just a Dumb Idea... but how 'bout doing it, on the 'Con, some weekend other than the 4th weekend?

Camo, good idea, but execution would be difficult. Having an actual sactioned event is a pretty kick ass idea. Having Rich organize it is a great idea since he is a member of the board. We have a ton of offroad vendors on this board to help with sponsoring dollars and other micellaneous bullchit. Roxy can be in charge of the food (lasagne) booth.

Now, wanting it to BE a Cal-Rocs event or BE LIKE a Cal-Rocs event. If it is a Cal-Rocs event where we just happen to show up wouldn't be the same. Anybody could sign up and it would water it down, it wouldn't be an event JUST FOR the PBB membership. If everyone wanted to go ahead and have Rich organize it, the membership here participate in it, the rest of the membership there to be spectators, etc... Our event, for PBB... I say it would be one hell of an event.

Ok I'll step in and make a suggestion, I'm to look at some private property in the Tulare co. soon. 1600 acres, I think, canyons, rocks and washes, I understand. personally i think the less comp like this event is the better it will be. the whole idea of sitting around all day drinking :beer: and watching all these people with bitchin rigs fawk there shit up for bragging rights is great. :D :D

The less commercial/government there is, the better in my eyes. the whole outlaw/fun event thing seems alot more enjoyable then some huge clusterfawk of rules/regulation with all the nazi's that go along with such a thing.

Last years planned (unplanned) event was surprizeing to all that made it !! The response was overwhelming !!! It showed just what a club of STREET LEGAL rigs could do to the trailer queens that showed !!! ie: Stomper drove his Toy 11 hours in the RAIN and cold with no top !! Fat Kid made the last 50+ miles with no windshield (in the rain)-------- But we showed up and made our presents known !!! The crowd and the magazine coverage was great ! -- we ran the rest of the Con and drove the 10 hours home in our trail rigs !
Damn shame that there isn't a Senior Citizens (60+) division !!!
Where ever, when ever it is held, the Tin Benders will make a showing and kick somass !!!!

The 2 make a great combo. We wheel in 100 plus all summer long. You just start alittle earlier.

Lets do one at Moonrocks. Charge a small fee for club or vehicle entry, get volunteers to judge(impartial of course), and put all the proceeds toward the 'Con. Use it for trail maintance, clean ups, more outhouses whatever. I know there are a few clubs around in G-ville, Carson, and Reno that would jump at the chance to come "play" for a good cause. Just my .02
