Sounds like you can use the parts that you got Check to see if the new pump will mount where the IH pump if it use witch ever pump you need to. I have looked at doing the same steering setup that you are in an 80 Looks like the box mount will need to be reinforced. It looks like the waggy column is too long you can always modify it or if you need a Ih column contact me I have a good one Doubt this helps much but its what I've noticed for when I do mine.www.shpshr@hotmail.com (http://www.shpshr@hotmail.com)

I am doing near the same set up right now. Except that I have a YJ 4 bolt box (same thing really) and a Cadilliac Steering column (interestingly enough, I just found out that another 61 Scout owner has the same column as me. I guess, I'm not original afterall :( Anyways...here are my thoughts:
1) use what ever pump fits your motor not necessarily the one that came with the box.
2) Use the Wagoneer Column (it's a GM column anyways). I don't know which shaft to use yet because I haven't put mine in. I was given an S-10 shaft though. It's short, but not too short. We'll see.
3) If the lines do directly fit, you can get conversion fittings or new lines made. Afco racing has conversion fittings to take it from o-ring to AN style (this is what I am going with;))
Anythng else?

Hey Guys why make this hard.
Bolt up a Scout 2 box to the frame. Then install Borgeson joint on the top where it comes out of the firewall. Next insert a length of Doulble D shafting. Finally install Borg joint on the box. You will need to brace the long run of Doulbe D shaft with a simple heim joint. Install power steering pump, trim fenders out and swap pitman arms and wolla Power steering.
I have seen this done on many Scout 80/800s.
Just what i have seen most commonly.

I don't like the SII set ups. My buddy had this done and it looked like $hit IMO.

plus the sII box is on the outside of the frame isnt that just making more work for adapting the steering column????

I think it depends on what model of 80/800 it is. My 71 800B (304) has the box on the outside of the frame.
I will be going PS when I do the SOA, but I'm not sure what I'm using yet.

Makkat, I have a 71 800B too. I'd like it if you can keep me posted on what you figure out to do on yours for PS. I also have an EB, and a lot of those guys are using Nissan Pathfinder/Exterra PS boxes-I wonder if one of those would work? Its suppossed to have a beefier sector shaft than the Ford ones!

I think the biggest difference is 4 cyl vs 6/8. I'm pretty sure all of the V8 & 6 cyl 80/800's had the gearbox on the outside, while the 4 cyl's had it on the inside. 800B's being the exception, all of those should be set up for V8 from the factory.

I will probably end up just using the SII box since I've got a couple laying around. Unless something better comes along.....
