Nice. What material(size, thickness) did you use for the swing-away?

Red FJ

3x6 main channel, 2x2 swingout, hinge is custom built with a 2" shaft(like 1 15/16th's, and a piece of schedule 80 over it. Heacy duty and not going anywhere. As far as plans, all hand drawn and made up as I went along. Will post pic of mine after I get some. Looks much better with the reverse lights and brake lights in.

Very Nice!
The swing gate looks like what I am building now. Except I'm using 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 3/16".
Got some more info or pics on the hinge assembly you made?
Thanks,
-Jeremy

How much of a PIA is it to change those tail lights when they go out???? looks killer thoagh

Red FJ

Changing the lights is pretty easy, actually. On mine I made the light cage removable, makes it even easier. 3x6 is 1/4" all 2x2 is 3/16", tried to make it as light as possible. thanks.

Hi,

Are you interested in making a set of front/rear bumpers with 2" receiver in that style and selling it to me? I am very interested.

I'll make 'em, the only question is are you going to pay the shipping? I am in Southern MD, hour south of DC, gonna cost alot, they are not real light. If you really want one email at badassyota@yahoo.com. I also make the shorty style front, will try to post some pics. Should have the tube bender next week! Then it's on!

PS - Don't forget those pics!

Ratbastard, those are 36x12.5, the truck is not mine, the guy it belongs to posted as well, he used scout axles I think, didn't shorten them, done elsewhere. If you were asking about my Yota, mine are 38.5's on J20 44's full width. Looking for the 60's now.

With the light guards your bumper reminds me of the bumpers some friends of mine have been selling for a while...

Yes you are right. I was asked if I could build something comparable to theres, that person was unable to buy one from them, due to back orders. So I did. And well you see the response, they created an excellent product just need to produce more of them, but they are not, and trust me I see why, what a PITA to build one. It's just so time consuming.

Hey Mr. RatBastard
This CJ is running uncut but turned D44s from a late 70's Scout still 5 on 5.5.
Its a SOA with 2.5 rear BDS springs all the way around. The front spring hangers were outboarded and the steering moved to the top of the axle (yea I need a dif guard)

The tranny is a Ford NP435 mated to a 4:1 D300 and 4.56R&P for a nice 121:1 crawl ratio. The shocks are limiting axle travel as seen in the RTI pics

You need to jump on the Cheif and have him bring his digi-cam up and take some for me so I can post 'em. Busy all weekend painting another one, and he forgot to bring his, sorry. Will try to have some toward this end of this week.

OK Jim and others, I got the bumper lights installed and working!

Because the license plate is a little covered up (great for Red-Light Cameras, don't tell your bro Jim ;) I've removed the stock CJ lights and bought two more recessed lights. I've got the left rear cut out and I took the stock license plate holder and made a 180 bend in the part that goes under the stock taillight. There is just enough space between the light and the plate to install a light for the license plate.

I'll take pics tonight and post them also to www.peake.com/occ/mycj

Two Pics are at

The paint matchs the factory stripe (like I really care ;)

Jim, I still need a front bumper but we have until Big Dogs Ice Breaker or the Jeep Jambore (depending)

Sharp looking. Chris, all you need to do is name it "Blue By You" :D

I met you that day you were down there, I was the one who blessed Jim with the front hoop to a roll cage. Now if Jim would only get busy on my bumper, I wouldn't have to come on here and give him a big :flipoff2: Oh yeah, and a :p too!

Chief.
