I'm replacing the Rancho 4" lift springs on my 1980 CJ7. After only a 4 years, they are sagging to the point that the rear corners have damaged the 33" tires.
I've decided to go with the wider Wrangler springs (and change out the front spring perchs). I've researched Skyjacker, Black Diamond and Rubicon Express... They all say their stuff is the best (imagine that !).
My question is what are you running ? Are you happy with it (or not) and why...
TIA

I went with the RE 14044's err..1444044004 (whatever) spring over springs because I had the same problem you did with the sagging so I went SOA with good springs.....Also because........Why not? I'll be half way there so I just did it.
Major niceness compared to the 4"pro crap SUA springs I had....Now she rides like a Caddy, flexes like stock!
Go SOA.....you'll be glad you did.

The 1980 CJ's were the narrow track... I don't really want 6 inches of lift that a SOA would give me...
So who's using which spring ?
Thanks

'84 CJ....sort of; Skyjacker 4" YJ springs [with a Rancho AAL for the rear of a Toy P/U added to the fronts], SUA on Toyo 8" axles, Currie front shackles, Revolver rears, all on custom mounts, 97" WB.
The only problem that I have had with the springs is bending one each front and rear before I added the big giant Energy Suspension bumpstops..... fortunately, Skyjacker is one of the few companies that sells their springs individually instead of just pairs. It would be nice if they were military wrap; I carry the mainleafs from the bent ones as trail spares.

Just do the SOA with stock YJ springs.....you won't get 6 inches, or at least I didn't....here it is on lat ground and those are 32x11.50 tires. Kinda small in my book :(

it flexes real nice though :D

I would either do a 4.5" R.E. lift, or a spring over on stock YJ springs or maybe even 1.5" Reverse Eye spring (also Rubicon Express), in my opinion, Rubicon Express and OME are the best kits for a jeep.
I dont have a CJ so I'm not sure but I think you have to do more than just get wider front spring perches. You will need new spring hangers, all the perches, new spring plates, etc. etc... But I think some companys make kits to swap the springs to YJ springs, look at those to see all you need and then peice it together yourself.
