Has anyone experienced the pinion nut being sheared off the pinion thus destroying the bearing? Trying to conclude if this was a bearing failure or an install problem... like possibly overtorquing the pinion nut? This was a new Yukon R&P (4.56) and Yukon Master Install Kit with Timken bearings on a TJ front axle. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated...

Tks...

Well for 1 it is a dana 30. They are not the strongest axle out there.

Who installed it?

I would think the nut was bad. Possibly because it had been used several times. Overtorquing like you said. Or some how it got cross threaded.

Ya I know it's a turd D30... not my rig, another guy from our club. I'll confirm to see if the old nut was used but should have used the new one from the Master Install Kit. I'm leaning more towards overtorquing then bad bearing... how many of you out there actually had a Timken bearing go bad... new out of the box 2 days of not hardcore wheeling on the new install. Mind you he is turning 33 TSL's so that's a bit more weight for the stock stuff....

Tks for the reply...

it really looks like the nut got cross threaded when it got put on. even the turd 30 can turn 33" tires. unless there was like no gear oil in the thing that bearing shoulda been fine.
