hey, was looking at a recent 4x4 mag and saw another rig built by cambell ent. what's up with them always using 12 bolts ?

i thought 12 bolts were decent and all but I know they have c-clips and didn't think the c-clip eliminator deals worked well on off-road rigs cause they didn't seal very well and leaked gear oil onto the brakes. anybody want to clue me in ??

alledgedly they're fairly strong they have a 8.875" ring gear and some are 30-spline ... but ... they're not a 35-spline 9.75" ring gear'd 60

Which 4x4 mag? I am a huge fan of Cambell's creations and also like that he uses the 12bolts! :)

I believe there is a C-clip eliminator kit for them, if so, he's surely using it.

Yes there is an eliminator kit for the 12 bolt, but I doubt Shannon runs them. The actually make a 12 bolt weaker. The bearing that the elim uses is smaller than the factory one and it is not designed to handle the side loads that wheeling would put on them....

The ring gears cannot be that weak. They seem to handle the rigors of drag racing just fine.

I think the main concern is the axle shafts..

Although I do remember Shannons father being quoted in an article on Outdoorwire.com of saying that Shannon has been running 12 bolts for aroudn 7 years and has only broken one axleshaft!!!!!!

Wonder what his rig weighs?

Also, anyone know if Shannon still has Pinky or if he sold it or what????
