I am thinking about doing a spring over on my 40 with my alcan lift springs on full width axles, will this make it ride too stiff? or should I consider selling the alcans and using wagoneer springs? I'm hoping to have a ride that flexes well, and can clear 38-39.5 tires.

A spring over with 5" lift springs
I don't know about flex, but your head will apear on air traffic control radars you will be so high up.

I fit 38.5" swampers with a standard springover and stock flat a$$ springs. Why would you need 5" of EXTRA lift???

Any time you use lifted springs, the friction needed to make them flex flat is much more than a spring that is already flat.
Your droop will not be as good as flat springs and you will be missing the best advantage of a SOA...the ride of flat springs over the axle with 45* shackles and 10lbs in your 38's:smokin:

What about using the wagoneer springs? How much more lift could I expect from those than stock cruiser springs?

I don't think this newbie GETS IT. You would be waaaaaaayyyyyy tall with 5" lift plus SOA. Hell, I did the Con in a relatively stock FJ-55 w/ 33's.
SOA and ditch the Alcans
or
Keep the Alcans and spend you money elsewhere
:flipoff2: Oh, yeah, welcome Newbie! :flipoff2:

When WOLF359 still had leaf springs he cleared 44" Boggers with a 2.5" lift and SOA :flipoff2:
