Seems there's a new carb on the market. Works at 45 degree pitch and 30 degree roll.

I just picked up the March '02 Fourwheeler. Willie Worthy has an article 'bout the new and improved Edelbrock Q-jet. Beats the hell outa the Truck Holley.

I'm gonna stick my Demon on somethin' else and forget about EFI.

I am now looking for a spread-bore manifold.

New and Improved meaning not as cool as the older Edelbrock Q-Jet I have? *pout*

I still haven't put it on an engine yet.. I bought it to replace my ThermoQuad, but then I actually RTFM'd how to tune the T-Quad and it's doing better.. well enough to leave it alone.

It starts everytime and hasn't fluttered once off-road.. not that I've twisted my Travelall up too much.

look at his post again, he's talking about a new Q-jet... not a Holley...

Personaly, I hate Holleys, the one on my Scout ran like CRAP.... but then, I don't know how to set them up yet......

Course, I'm not a big fan of my Holley Pro-Jection either.... but it "works" and its there.... till I can afford something better (can we say GM??:D)

Yo Senile Ol' Scout,;)

I read the general discussion too.

I may be new at this site but I been 'round the block a few times and I do no how to read.

I HAVE HAD MY SCOUT FOR 23 YEARS NOW!

Don't take it personal, I'm gettin' senile too.

The new Holley is nothing more than my modified Holley. They are OK. They are not hard to set up - if ya grow up with one. I always had Fords when I was a kid, so Holley is what ya learned (Junk the Autolite). Chevy pukes learned on Q-jets.

Anyway, nothing wrong with an old Q-jet, 'cept ya can't find one ain't been rebuilt 2 or 3 times and they don't like side hill worth a damn. This new one looks like a winner.

PN 1910 is non-emissions 850 CFM.

Have a good day!

I have an old Holley whatever it is. The old stock single barrel kind. Camber, pitch, don't make any difference. It never loads up, and the only time it stalls at those angles.

A stock carb can be setup to handle trails and work well. I realize I could probably get more power by going to a new, fancy shmancy carb, but JR out at outback parts in Spokane set this one up for me, and it runs like a top.

No pat, you have a 2-barrel, not a single barrel....

2-barrels seem to work fine off-road, don't know why, and the old 2100 (or what ever it was) seems to be great.

These guys are talking about 4-barrels.... I don't knwo why, but the 2-barrels seem to be better off-road than the 4-barrels.............

You have a one-lunger on your 345, Pat??!!

I'm going to try out my new 500cfm 2bbl on the 345 in Tigger tomorrow. The 350cfm worked well enough - I'm hoping the 500 might yield a little better power.

Plus the built 345 needs the 500 more than the stock 345 in my crewcab, which got the 350cfm 2bbl. :-)

You had me worried my little two barrel Holley was bad garbage - I was going to ask what would be the better choice. But I see now the two barrel is not horrible - still what would be best - beside EFI??

FWIW, my bulkhead connector causes me more problems than my 2bbl Holley 2300s ever have.

I have video from Moab.. I come up to a Fin to climb which has a bump right at the beginning.. everything's going fine.. hit the bump, the engine falters (coil wire at the bulkhead loses connection momentarily) and then black smoke as the engine works to clear itself the rest of the way up the fin.

The last time I had some "real fun" on a trail was also the day I ran a manual switch from keyed "hot" to the coil and it didn't falter one bit.

and I think the only time the 2bbl on my race truck quits is when it comes to a very abrupt halt and then stands on the grille.

It doesn't run too well then.

Doh!! You are right, of course. 2 barrel. <sigh> Teach me to try to participate when i am working...

But, it really does well. Course, i don't have all the extra umph of a 4 barrell, but don't really seem to miss it, or maybe i just don't know what i am missing??

:embarrassed:

Keep it simple. I would rather have my simple 2 barrel carb that ran well, then a fancy 4 barrel that always needed tweaking.

Why does barrel get abbreviated bbl?

I've got a stock Rochester on my Buick 231. That sucker stays running when I flop it on it's side so it runs at 90 degrees on the side. I've also hit the rearend on the ground while climbing. I figure that's about 60-70 degrees and I stay running. It's all in how you adjust things inside the carb ;)
