pretty simple problem here of not paying attention when I took things apart. running a HP d44 with chevy brakes. Of course nothing really holds the brake pads from rattling around except this little spring clip I have sitting here, where the hell does it go? I have tried cramming it in there every which way and can't find a picture. To clarify this is the small chevy single piston calipers not the big ford multiple piston calipers with the sliding spring and bolt thing on the bottom of the caliper.
thanks

the clip fits over the pad that sits against the piston (it should have two little grooves at each end of the clip to hold th pad. THe elbow part of the clip gets shoved into the cylinder and that's all there is to it.

Not sure if we are talking about the same thing. the ones I have look like this at the top of the picture

To be completely honest I am beginning to wonder if these are even right. I'm pretty sure I took them off the j-yard caliper for this project but not 100%

Okay ran to the store for some other stuff picked up some of the clips like SacTrack described, and have those installed on the inner pads. But I am still pretty sure the ones I have the picture of from above came with the calipers. if not the outer pad just goes along for the ride? there is still a lot of play in the outer pad.

he he he... wow.. yeah I've never seen clips like the ones ni your pics (although that's not saying much). But yeah, if you've got the clips installed on the inner pads, the outer pads just go along for the ride. Once you've got your system hooked back up and bled, most of the play should be gone
