Looin at getting a wrecked 1995 Blazer, 4.3, auto, floor shifted t-case. Trying to find some more info on the drivetrain components. Seach doesn't seem to like me today. If anyone knows more about these, power output, strength, or can point me in the right direction it would be of big help!!

700r4 trans (i.e. 4L60) - 4 speed auto w/ OD
NP231 t-case
Engine is either the TBI or "vortec" 4.3 (not sure which year they went to the Vortec)....TBI is rated around 160 hp, vortec around 190 hp

When did they switch to the 4L60E?
T-case would be the 2.72 then, correct?
Anything for a doubler setup, toyota?
I'll know a little more about it in a minute, heading out to go look at it now.

My 94 4-door is a CPI Vortec with a 4L60-E. I'm willing to bet that's what the 95 is. 95 is considered the bastard year for the Blazer. They were new body style, but still ran CPI Vortec, went to the SMPI(?) style Vortec in 96. And as was mentioned, TBI was offered throughout those years, atleast in the pickups.

4L60E started in '93. All '95 S-Jimmy and S-Blazer got the 4.3L CPI. Should be 190-200hp. With age the CPI runs worse than TBI.

Its a NP231 t-case just like the other guy said. Front diff is 7.25" hi-pinion IFS. Rear is 7-5/8" with 28-spline shafts. 3.73 gears. Gov-bomb is almost a sure thing.

Hold out for a '96+ and you get the real SFI Vortec. Or go '98+ and get 4-wheel disc.

Hold out for a different make and get a better truck :flipoff2:

Couldn't help it, it was a good deal, says vortech real big on top, it looks to be MPI, has the long runners like the MPI camaros. I figured it would be the 4L60E, no problem though. Stick is on the floor for the t-case, Good!! 103,000 miles, got a good deal on it though. Now just to figure out what to do with it. I had future plans for 4.3, but don't know if I'm ready for it yet. Might be for sell here in a few weeks, might become another iron in the fire. Up in the air for now, thanks for the info!!

Oops... I meant 3.42 or 3.73 - both were available. 3.73 is not exclusive to ZR2's. But 3.08's ??? Damn, I've only encountered that gear with 5-speeds.

This is sick. I have a portion of my brain that is still harbouring detailed Chevy S-series info :barf: I better go fix that :smokin:

That's it!! 207,000 damn!! This one has a lifter tappin', If I use it I'll change that and pull the pan just to have a look. Cranks and runs fine though, seems like it would be a fun swap, just don't know if I'm up for it yet.
