don't really have the money, will have to use the credit card this month, but i couldn't help rescuing this from a certain crushed death. no title and the motor's locked up, but came with an extra rollcage and extra early doors and bib.

That's the first thing I noticed as well, Butch. Wonder what's in the rest of the motor if the valvetrain looks like that??

Who knows, those rockers & intake are for 6k RPM & up which is not exactly a Cruiser engine....

Yes you're an addict, but that has nothing to do with this recent purchase. You could have been committed years ago... Now, one addict to another, any bumper gussets on that hybrid beast?

My thoughts exactly. So why exactly do you want the rockers? :D :D
Perhaps this was a trans-am cruiser! There's an ugly thought! Maybe 1/4 mile, big long wheelies!!!!!!!!!!

cast Iron heads though..

I would be curious to see what the motor has as well.

Are the valve springs double or single springs?

Dude ! you need to be put in re-hab ! i'll keep an eye on your Cruisers while you are committed for your addiction :D

I thought I was the only one with a problem....I was really questioning my mental stability after I made an all day trip to Fort Bragg for a rusted out Freebie FJ55  But I'm happy I did :) if it's a Cruiser, it's worth it !

well, it's been a long day. i've showered (washing sweat, 90wt, and deep woods off! off my body was better than sex), had yet another beer, put some zz in the disc player, and i've downloaded the pics. the cruiser is stripped as far as it's going until the tub/frame are sold. i do have the bumper braces, but someone else has dibs for the moment (i just gotta find the thread where i offered em up). now, just need to get rid of everything else. as for it being less tempting to by more when you have more...i'm a woman...it doesn't work that way....i want it all and i want it now :D

i was up to four, then five, then i got rid of one, then i got another one, then i got rid of one, now i got another one...worse still, there's another one tempting me at the moment...any rich single men with large expanses of land that i could marry?

think i'll hang onto those rockers...sorry butch :flipoff2: ...bettin' there's a nice cam to go with. haven't gotten into the engine...between parting it out, fixing a bud's jeep (again), and a wheel seal on another bud's pickemup, it was a busy day. not sure i want to look inside the motor since an easy five quarts of cool clear water came out...followed by "tea". hoping the crank/lower end's not toasted. did find this funky ashtray though. the guy also has an 80ish 40 that he's selling (smoking major crack on the price)...is this maybe a later model ashtray?

Yup.

So let me get this straight. You just bought the truck, and you gutted it in ONE DAY! If I had a cruiser shop in Colorado, I'd be in negotiations for that kind of talent.:beer::beer:

front gussets?

I might have a set laying around....not positive on condition tho...but I did just do a front custom bumper for mine and all the gussets were no longer needed.

Ige,
Just because you named your cat cruiser, have old covers of TT framed and on your wall and have 5 cruisers, but only 2 run does not make you an addict. The fact that for a good time you call 4 friends to come over and help you "strip" an 76 FJ40 does not make you an addict. . . . . . . .Oh, yes it does!!

Had fun yesterday, you can learn a lot about cruisers when you rip one down to the tub. Good thing I went home when I did. The wife had a huge dinnner made and I was right on time. She cooked special in honor of having Rachel's "boyfriend" over.

Maybe you should let Butch know about the Chrome Dip stick from the parts rig, he may ant some "bling" like that.

Is there a difference in meaning between the red bouncy dude and the green one? I understand the beer and fawk you smilies!

I built a couple early Camaros years ago with hot small blocks. One of them had an 8000 RPM 302 with a Crane roller valve train which looked real similar.
The cruiser hobby is a lot better on my driving record!

sorry, the choco's not mine...i couldn't afford one, so i went for the free blue heeler/border mix. you'd have to cook, i can't. but after an entire day without food and lots of hot sun and beer, magoo, doug and kim really didn't care what it tasted like. my cooking talents are pretty much limited to totinos pizza and cold cereal with and occasional plate of mac n cheese. kinda pointless to cook a meal when you live alone...besides, it kinda ruins the taste of the jack.

dang butch...you're making me blush.

the last one would've been done in one day also if the fender that was flattened against the motor hadn't been in the way, and the rocker hadn't pinched that formerly pristine (now only slightly torn) oem floormat. not to mention the motor mount and frame section that were wedged into the oil pan. this one went much smoother. even the rollbar bolts all zipped right out...not one broke...that doesn't happen to me very often.

hmmmm, well Connie is very open minded :grinpimp: and can cook VERY VERY well(fresh dungeness homemade crab cakes for dinner tonight) :D

I actauly learned to cook because my folks were never home till late, I continued to cook for all my single years............now i can't even find anything in the kitchen(and she came with her own BBQ)............she took over and thats OK :) all I can shop for now is pop, water and buttwipe(she gets the stuff that leaves klingons :mad3: :barf:

but i hear ya, cooking for one is spendier than eating out more often then not.

tore intake and one head off the block from the now almost departed cruiser...so far, not so bad. a little bit of rust in the valley, but cylinder walls look "clean". no rust or pitting, but dust? there was good clean antifreeze in the waterjackets, but no where else in the motor and it's been bored. if this storm keeps up, maybe tomorrow i'll work on it some more.
