GearMan

knuckles are made from 3/8 plate steel and the arms are made from 1 inch plate and there is no more nylon bushing up top it has been converted to a bearing :flipoff2:

Why are these outers six lug instead of eight and what did the knuckles that are broken above look so different? They are twice as thin as the ones that are on my 60s! Is this a ford design of some sort. Also is there a way to change that plastic bushing out with a tapered roller bearing?

aaronlosey
01-26-2002, 06:49 PM
looks good, is the rear off the same pump as the front? or will you have a seperate elec pump? we had a bit of trouble with ours, kept bending rams and had a bit of wandering. but it works really well now.

Welcome to the Pirate Bulletin Board. you can redrill the flanges and disks to get the 6-lug pattern. The knuckles rollie posted are custom one off jobbers and the ones gearman "had" look to be just the stock knuckles. as far as replacing the plastic bushing out i think its just a swap out the plastic and in with the roller bearings.

GearMan
01-26-2002, 07:07 PM
its more then just changing out the nylon for a bearing :flipoff2:

Welder Boy set up a jig and built his own Dana 60 knuckles. If anyone wants to talk to him about em, email me and I'll hook you up with his phone number. WB (as he is commonly known) was a welder on a nuclear sub in the Navy. His welding skills are top shelf. Oh, his real name is Bill (actually William) but he has certainly earned the nickname, 'WB'... :D:D:D

That can't be no D44 on the right. Look at the top part of the knuckle. It has a king pin. D60's use king pins.

This knuckle on the left is way too big to be a D60, which seems to be the knuckle on the right.

Come on someone ought to know what this big knuckle is.
