Talkin' to a guy up near Toronto that told me a lot of interesting things about Toy diesels and many other weird trips, BUT............Out of nowhere he tells me that GM Corporate 12 bolt rear axle shafts are the same size and spline as Toy axles. If this be true........custom lenghts?, trick alloys?, and better pricing?, would be available.......Right? Kerry ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????

Toy axles are 30 spline, but they are 90 degree splines. Most US made axles (Dana and most Corporate) use 60 degree splines. However, the interesting part is you can put a 30 spline Dana axle into a Toy side gear but you can't put a Toy axle into a Dana side gear. I've seen it, it actually works. Jayson is rebuilding has Sami (see we're talking Sam :D ) to use a front axle that Mark at WMS did several years ago. It has a Toy center section, trussed tubes, and Dana 44 outers! And it uses STOCK Dana 44 axle shafts.... Hummm, interesting noo

Yup. That's all the birfield eliminator stuff really was - special length D44 shafts and stuff.
Both are 1.3-inch 30 spline axles. But as mentioned, the taper on the splines is cut different between the two.
Oh yeah, and a 12-bolt is a C-clip axle, too.:barf:
