I know its off the subject...but this is the best place besides a dealer that I might get the help I need. No better knowledge than the POR board.

I'm tryin' like hell to get the rear drums off my wife's 98' Dodge Caravan and they just won't come off.
I've backed off the adjuster with 2 flat blade screwdrivers and the drums are still tight.
Tha van is equipped with anti-locks is the rear..

Is there something I'm missing?

What keeps the rear hub on the van??
Is there a nut and bearing setup like on a front hub?

I'm stuck and don't wanna pay for a lousy brake job..
Any ideas besides buying a haynes or chiltons book?

Thanx Tom

I don't know if its on the van or not, but many cars will have 2 small bolt holes in them. You thread the bolt in and it will push against the axle/wheel flange and push the drums off. Just tighten a little at a time, alternating bolts.

If that won't get it, you can always just use a torch to heat the drums and then knock them off. You'll probably have to turn them after that, it will most likely warp them a little.

If no torch and all else fails, find a bigger hammer.

Might be a silly question but did you release the parking brake? How about soaking the center outside of the drum with penetrating oil, also clean the same area with a wire brush...:skull:

Thanx guys....so far I did those things. No jacking bolt holes in the drums. My Toy drums are like that and they work great for removing the drums.

Any other ideas. It feels like the damn things are bolted on.
Thanx Tom
