What's a gimble bearing?

a bearing on the outdrive to a boat...has a boot that goes over it and is supposed to be water tight...by the look of the last pic this guy's was not water tight;)

BTW, have you ever changed a gimble bearing before? If you haven't and are not finished yet, make sure to get the boot lined up properly otherwise you will be tearing into it again before the end of the season:D If you are finished I would make sure its all lined up good otherwise you will trash your new bearing PDQ:D
