Easy.
Take the 30 out. Get some 2" channel iron. Cut two 3' long rounded sections of the channel. Lay on ground and weld to one hub with the ends of channel facing away from each other. Then go to the other hub. Weld on a very large metal O ring. Take the entire unit now to your boat. Use as anchor. :flipoff2:

Oh, and to answer your question...if you dont have or do wheelin hard enough to justify an axle swap...why do you wanna truss it? I wheeled a 30 front for 2 years HARD, and never broke or bent anything. I say wheel it till it dies, dont bother with upgrading it at all ;)

this is Stu's from the link above...sweet. Just run 297X u-joints, warn alloy shafts, do a brace like stu's, and them little 30's will last...just don't go playin 'redneck hero' tryin' to out do your friends on the rocks, and for gawd sakes...NO JUMPING YER JEEP:flipoff2: this time next year, it won't be 60's...it'll be portals:D

It just seems like a whole hell of a lot of work for a D30 to me. When you can go to Pick n pull and get a Waggy 44 for 150 bones. I guess if you got the spare time

dude that 30 is the least of your problems if your runnin a 35.
n/j the 30 aint bad if your not locking it and runnin bigger than 36". Unless your a gojuice junky.

LISTEN,

the 30's DONT suck...:mad2: I have wheeled mine hard for years... with 297 joints.. Arb 4:56.. 36 " swampers.. Granted I have a 44 in the rear.. I agree the 35 is the BIG problem... I havent had any problems with my 30..You just got to now how to take care of it... I am not a gogo pedal freak!!!.. It costs money to press that pedal on the right real hard!!! Now bigger than 36's I agree you wil have problems..I WISH I had 60's.. but my house, 3 CAR garage with 10 foot door to fit the Milktruck (XJ) and finally getting a tow rig were more important than spending thousands on custom 60's for my jeep. I agree the 30 will work for most applications.

Milkman,

Just my .02$....
lots of:beer:   tomorrow!!! GO STEELERS!!!!

30 In front
44 In Rear

What is the better 297 Shafts to get? I was under the impression that the new like 96 and up shafts took the 297 Joints.

Scotty,

some 95's had 297's... it was a mixed up year...you can order axle shafts from 4wd hardware that have the 297 joints in them for a TJ axle (or XJ) about 100.00 for short side and 130.00 for long side I believe. After 95.. all of them had 297's...or you can go the expensive route and but the Warn buggers...but... I have a theory... (now this is just what believe...!).. right now most likely than not on the trail your gonna break a axle shaft .. if you upgrade the shafts you next weak link is the size of the ring and pinion....If you ask me , the factory shafts have not given me any problems and I woudl rather change out a shaft on the trail. Get some factory buggers and keep you originals to get you out of a jam!..We got changing a shaft down to like 15min - w/ on board air tools!!..DONT GO TO YOU DEALER FOR SHAFTS... THEY ARE THE SAME THING YOU CAN BUY FROM THE SPICER CATALOG LIKE 4WD hardware has..

Milkman,

Just my .02$

That was the plan then I started doubting my decision whith that post someone made about Warns. I have a buddy that just started at the local Junk yard. Gonna have him check into some used ones as well
