Well happy day's...
Got my 3/4 ton running gear for my Jeep (74 chevy truck) and then find out that 15" rims won't fit the front d44 because of the massive brake caliper.....looks like I could do some grinding and modify the braket to make it work...has anyone else ran into this problem?...

What did you do?

POC. Mine's out of a J truck, but Chevy is very similar. Fords are a bit more of a bitch.

I'm running 4.25" backspaced wheels and had to do some moderate grinding. Throw your wheel on as tight as possible. Rotate it. pull it. Check where it left paint marks and grind. Check again, grind, check again, grind... It's easy man. Go for it. :D

Did you have to modify the Bracket just above the mounting bolt? it's only about 1/4" thick...if I grind it it will be 1/8" or less...I was thinking of cutting it and lowering it till it was touching the bolt and welding it back on.(not sure yet what this part of the mount is really for)..

We just ground the hell out of the brake caliper on my buddies 10 bolt caliper.

it worked fine...

On top, there's that flange thingie that goes over the calipers. I think that's what you're talking about. It's like a brace. I was a bit scared to get into that but did it anyway. Mine's almost gone. But I've broke hard on it and have had no problems for over a year.

What size is the backspacing on your wheels? If it's any more than 4.25", I'd get some more outboard ones. Just start grinding man, you may find it does'nt take much at all. ;)

Thank my brother's....Guess i'm on the right track....I ground them before I asked anyone about it and thought before I go to far I should see if there were any disaster stories...
I have the wheel to where it bolts up(it didn't take much grinding to get it there)but it still touches quite a bit....thanks for the info.

Right on. Told ya! Easy. Just grind a little more here and there, you'll get it. And if it's all the way on, bolted tight and it turns but squeals and scrapes, that's ok. Mine did that too, but after a few hundred miles, it grinds itself home. :D :D

Why are the Fords any harder than another?

Fords are a bitch because of the huge dual-piston caliper. I just did an 8 lug conversion on my solid D44 front in my 95 Bronco to match my Ford 10.25" rear. I run 15" rims with 3.5" of backspacing and that amounted to about 2-3 hours of grinding per side. Chevy stuff would have fit with much less grinding... or I shoul have just ordered myself some 2.5" backspaced wheels and just not worried about it.

Would anyone be interested in 8 lug 15" steel wheels with beadlocks or with out, We are Prototyping a Beadlock set on a class 8 desert race truck, that has a 44 front and 14 bolt rear. The offset can be, If I remember. 3.25 or 3.50. The drum of the wheel is larger then others thats why we can run them. They are a very strong wheel. About 225 thousands thick. Just some info for you guys.

Ok I'm back. The wheels will fit a 3/4 ton, 4X4, 44F/14 bolt, or 10B/ 14 bolt. The drum of the rim is bigger than others, if you have to grind at all, its going to be very little. I think we can get the back spacing to between 3.25 to 3.50.

If you go to my site, look at the moduler one, thats the wheel but 8 lug. I dont think we can get down to 3". I will have to check that monday. We can different spacing on other rims, but not to many on the 8 lugs. Prices are about 185.00. The rims are built by allied wheel, but they dont have them on there site yet. The lock rings are rolled on the end to a 1/2, so if the tire gos flat it wont cut the tire. The rim is also thicker than the others. This is one strong rim. They tested them on a truck with flat tires off road and beat the sh#%t out of them. didnt have one that bent.

Very nice!
I like the solid version.
32 bolts is the way to go also.
Good pricing!
How thick are the outer rings?
How long is it taking you, to get the product out after the order is placed?
Gotta ask all the questions, they can be very important when your getting ready for a competition or trail run.
