Did the 8.8 ever come with 4.xx gears?

For $375, I found one out of a '97 Explorer that was a flood victum. It has 3.73 gears and 12K miles on it. Full disk brakes. I am thinking of getting it. It was an Eddie Bower Edition V8 (302). Looked really nice but I am sure the electrical is toast.

Will this 8.8 have any locking in it?

There was mud in the curtesy light cover. :)

Thanks for the help.

Lot's of the 2dr Sports came factory with 4.10's. And if it has 3.73's then it probably has a Traclock.

Ditto on the 4.10s. I have a 90 Bronco and a 97 Exploder Sport than both came with 8.8 and 4.10. The Exploder was open, the Bronco was LS

If you can read the diff tag, look on the bottom left. It should say something like:

4L10 8 8 AXDG
OR
4 10 8 8 AXDG

If there's an L, it's limited slip. No L, open.

I think it will have a LS, the Eddie Buarer came from the factory with the tow package, my 98 has the tow package with the LS included. I also have 3.73's, but I believe the sports came with 4.10's because they run a larger tire!

just because it is a flood victom don't mean the electrical is bad.
I have always ben told if your computer gets wet its junk, but I ran my ranger with a 5.0 in water up to the windshild for 5 min. untill I shut it down. then it sat under water for about two hour's till I could get it out. after i changed all the fluids it started right up. Maybee I just got lucky, or maybee only using the ignition part of the computer had something to do with it.
