if your not going to bury it then just use splash shields,di-electric grease, & good connections

i have never had an alternator go out cause its under water, then agian if never sunk one

let me know if someone has better ideas?? thanks :smokin:

For serious water work, you should get an old manual pump diesel engine.

In addition, I insured my troopers wireing harness in the engine bay was re routed above the radiator instead of below it as it comes from the factory.

I then added snorkle and you should also consider a stack exhaust.

I then installed a GM single wire self exciting alternator where the Air cond compressor is normally located on the engine.

Also insure your differentials are vented high. Best is just to make a loop at the highest point mounted up high on the fender somewhere.

After a deep water event, I recommend changing both diffs and the oil in the transmission/transfercase too. Why I don't run an expensive synthetic.

My fuse box is now the weak link. I am considering 'potting' in the lower half and making the top water resistant somehow.

I will then be good for water up to 3 feet prolonged. to base of windsheild BRIEFLY which I have done. The prolonged is the issue.

muddy water also helped destroy my clutch, which are not water isolated entirely.
