Well everyone knows external hubs suck. Today I got down to 1 stud holding the hub on on the pass. side and 2 studs on the driver's side. The driver's side hub body broke. So I pulled the hubs off, put on my drive flanges, jammed some bolts pirated off other parts of Jay's jeep and my scout into the holes. Taped the hell out of it, and wheeled the last few miles of trail, including some nasty loose hill climbs. The 2nd pic is the cool trail fix for the valve stem I busted.

There were no appropriately sized rocks in the vicinity, so we had to resort to bolts. :cow:

if ya'd keep yer bolts tight, that wouldn't happen.. ;) well.. as often anyway.

I tightened them every time we stopped, but every time, another one was broken. It was weird, like all the studs had reached their fatigue limit at the same time. The studs were put in 4 years ago w/ locktite, and nylock nuts on them. Never had them loosen up until late last year, when I found one broken one. Since then they have been a problem, loose every time I checked them.
