: Finally some S-TON progress
MudzerK5 08-16-2004, 11:27 AM I finally got the cab sitting on the frame. I will roll it into the shop and build the mounts, doubler crosmmember, work out the steering, cage, wiring and body armor. I'm going to lower it some too. It will have 42" IROKs instead of these dry rotted tires! :flipoff2:
I'll post more pics later.
blacksheep10 08-16-2004, 12:01 PM hurry up, I want to go wheeling with you when you get your stuff together.
The sheep is itching for someone who throws down to get crazy with.
We are going to disney the last weekend of august with 2 s tons. I wish yours was ready for it, we could have another s dime weekend.
looking good.
BOWTIE 08-16-2004, 12:34 PM good to see it's starting to come together. :grinpimp:
Big96zr2 08-16-2004, 05:12 PM cool man....what year cab is that? I am in the process of gettin my 1 ton stuff together so I can be part of the S TON crowd....hopefully within a month or so....Keep the pics comin
Brian
Jamus2 08-16-2004, 05:26 PM S-ton, I like that. Looks good. Gonna fugly exo it or internal cage. And like nobody said it yet or something, more pics.
MudzerK5 08-17-2004, 08:03 AM The Cab is a '95. I am planning on installing an internal cage that will have the PRP seats mounted to it. The cage will go to the floor which is plated with 1/8" 6x6 plate and meets the floor just above the factory body mounts. I have welded 4x4 plate to the bottom of the factory mounts and used ORD spring eye kits with Fab Bushings to isolate the cab from the frame. The Fab busings are welded into my rocker skid mounts which will be ancored solidly to the frame. Between two of these mounts, I have a bar that mounts just inside the frame that ties both sides together and forms the Doubler crossmember. I will have a completley flat belly pan due to my WMS doubler having the NP203 upside down and NP205 outputs level with the input.
I am also building an exo-cage that covers just the extended cab portion and goes to the rear of the frame. I plan on using S-10 bed skins to simulate the bed and will narrow the rear like the Red Bull rig. Fuel cell, OBA tank, tranny cooler and toolbox will be mounted inside of the "bed". Bedsides will be removable for the narrow stuff.
In the front, I plan to trim the fenders just like the Black S-10 with rockwells (earlier thread) and will incorporate an 8274 winch mount, headlights and radiator mount. I will have to use electric fans on the radiator.
Anyway, I have a bunch to do - trying to make an event in early October.
I'll post pics of the body mounts and cage when its done.
We DEFINATELY need to have an S-TON gathering.
fugoffclothingco 08-17-2004, 04:20 PM  man that thing is gonna look sick, i wanna start doin an s10 blazer up and seein what you guys are doing just keeps making think the possiblities are endless
MudzerK5 08-18-2004, 11:15 AM How did you guys work out your steering and brakes? Post up.
I am going to use a portion of the S-10 steering assembly, but get the joints from a Chevy van. The S-10 has the steering much narrower than my full size frame.
Brakes - I planned on using the S-10 master cyl. Have any of you used it with 1 ton disks?
American 08-18-2004, 11:23 AM Why not use the old master cylinder from a K-series Chevy? And just go full hydro steering. Easy, better ... best
Jamus2 08-18-2004, 08:04 PM The stock master cylinder wasn't cuttin it with my 44/9". Now that I'm swapping in a 60 and 14 bolt with disc, I'm gonna run a fullsize mastercylinder. Haven't looked much into it yet cause I'm not to the body yet, still bare frame. Probably just go 1-ton, since it would match the axles. But I do know the stock s-series MC sucks with larger brakes.
Preview of the finished version? ;)

blacksheep10 08-19-2004, 07:55 PM I love the way my stock power brakes work on my 60 and disk'd 14 rear. I can stop any time I want with the utmost ease
steering: go full hydro and quit worrying about it
Jamus2 08-19-2004, 08:06 PM Hey sheep, did yours have ABS before? Don't know if it matters or not, but mine had 4wheel ABS which I ditched. It just never had the kinda braking power I thought it should have. Dunno, maybe I'll try using my MC with the new axles before I go shopping for something different.
Jeff_Super_S 08-19-2004, 10:24 PM I'm now using a stock MC out of a 89 s-10 blazer. The petal has some throw to it but you get her about half way down and look out she'll throw you into the dash. No reason you should be able to use the stock s-MC with the 60 and 14. As far as steering. I am just hydro assisted and my front is welded (yeah I had to do it) and she works real good. My ram is a 2" and I'm running a good size cooler. Full hydro would be nicer since mine is a trail only truck now, but I'm not complaining one bit about my set up.
Jeff_Super_S 08-19-2004, 10:36 PM I will have a completley flat belly pan due to my WMS doubler having the NP203 upside down and NP205 outputs level with the input.
I am also building an exo-cage that covers just the extended cab portion and goes to the rear of the frame. I plan on using S-10 bed skins to simulate the bed and will narrow the rear like the Red Bull rig.
I have a buddy that did the WMS doubler with the 203 upside down in his s-truck (earlier body) and its sweet. I'm not sure how it will work in your set-up with the F.S. frame but to work in his s-10 frame we had to cut a large section of the floor out to fit it...and thats with a 3" body lift too. Also he is running a D300 behind the 203 instead of a 205. In mine (s-10 frame also) I didn't want to cut the floor up so I mounted the 203 regular and clocked my 205 flat, and my crossmember only hangs 1" below the frame rails (3" body lift also).
I want to do just like your talking with the bed too!
blacksheep10 08-20-2004, 04:22 PM No abs on mine, not even rwal.
full hydro is cheap enough if you know the right people, fuck it, do it.
I am of course assuming it is trail only.
I have some 2 ended cylinders that work great with a template I have for steering arms for you knuckles. 4 turns lock to lock with a factory ps pump and an ag orbital. Also all the power you would want. Just a thought
MudzerK5 08-20-2004, 08:53 PM Yeah, I had a hole in my K5 tub pretty good sized - I am mounting the seats to the cage and they will be off the floor, so I'm not too worried about hacking the floor.
I currently have hydro assist, but might sell all of that stuff and go full hydro.
fugoffclothingco 08-22-2004, 05:23 PM if your gonna sell the hydro assist let me know how much your asking, i wanted to buy the rocklogic setup but i'd rather get somethin used because i'm low on the funds right now
American 09-17-2004, 11:12 AM Update?
big94GMC 09-19-2004, 04:10 PM MORE PICS?!?!?!? And put me in line for a possible hydro assist sale.
I am using the stock MC for my '94 S-10 and the brakes work excelent. Full hydro steering is awesome on the trails.

Jeff_Super_S 09-21-2004, 11:30 PM s-30,
I don't know what is worse the purple paint or the foot between your frame and body! Good thing you have that xtra foot though because you barely clear those tires! :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
blacksheep10 09-22-2004, 10:26 AM Yeah, now that is a body lift. You win.
Don't let Jeff super S give you too much shit, his S 10 is a tall ass top heavy bitch too. no body lift to speak of, just a lot of lift.
MudzerK5 09-22-2004, 03:53 PM I've made very little progress at this time - trying to plan an event here in Missouri for October 9-10, 2004. We are hosting a the Fall Crawl and have a fairly good prize stash and so on.
Anyway, I am taking my truck over to a friend's shop to get some things done. We should have the Cage installed and the truck lowered some. I'll install the 42's for some good comparo pics for you guys.
It sucks having to miss this whole summer of wheeling to get a rig done!
it is so tall because before i rolled it 8 times the body was mint except for the front fender and i didn't want to trim it.
