I need to make some custom polyurethane body mounts. I am planning on using 2" rod. Does any one know the most desirable hardness in durometers? I am thinking something in the range from 60A to 90A. Your advice and experience will be greatly appreciated.

Jack -

I would say the softer the better.... A lot of the rubber stuff O measured is in the 60s or less (Shore A).

If you were talking drivetrain or suspension mounts, I would go for a medium stiffness (75)

I don't see any reason other than weight to go harder.

You could get in touch with Roger Brown - he makes body mounts and is a serious (PhD) kind of a guy....

I made a 1 in body lift using a stick of poly in the 65d range. Its been in there for awhile and working just fine.. A friend used the same bar stock for the same use, he has been in use for more than a year with no problems
