does anyone know of another axle shaft length chart besides this one on the warn page:
http://www.warn.com/InternetHome/products/Axles/Appcharts/HighStrengthAlloy.shtm
i'm looking to narrow my J-20 44 and am looking for an outer axle shaft about 30" long but warn does list any at that length since most axles seem to have either a ~32" or ~28" long side shaft. i know i could just get one cut but was hoping to use some kind stock axle for replacement ease.
anybody have any other references to point me to or maybe a Dana book somewhere ? any help appreciated.

I'm not good at keeping track of these things, but I think the narrow track cherokee and scout axle is right around there...maybe 31 1/2" or so . I can't think of anything that wound have a shorter shaft.

No help to youl, but I have questions along these lines too...
How exact does the shaft length have to be? What I mean is, if my narrowed shaft length is .xxx inches longer than a certain OE length would that be okay?
Certainly you couldn't go the other way, and choose a shaft that's longer than the custom length.
Also, in measuring the length requirement, where do I measure from? Inside of carrier splines to dead center of [imaginary] line drawn between upper and lower balljoints? Somebody once told me I should build up the outers, with the stub shaft installed, and measure to center of the stub ears..

I made this chart Axle chart (http://home.gci.net/~bronco78/dana44/dana_axle.htm) up for Ford TTB dana 44's, but from it you can see how Spicer measures the axle shaft, and what data I can get you.

I may have some Dodge 44 shafts at home. I will check tonight.
Measure shafts from center of UJ to end of shaft.
