My question is in regards to the best method to weld on the dana 60 centersection. I know this has been asked before, but I'm specifically asking those people who have shaved the bottom of their axles and welded a 1/2" plate back on.

I've had good luck with my traction bar mount, which I MIG welded on the centersection. I pre-heated and post-heated and would think I would've broken it off by now if it weren't a good method.

I want to know if MIG welding the plate back on the housing is a good way, or if I should call my buddy who has a TIG.

Mig is fine...preheat/post heat and wrap with fiberglass house insul, plug the tubes with rags or insul. to keep the heat in and let it cool slow.
I wrap the insul around it and tie it on with wire...12 hrs. later it will still be hotter than hell.
