What is the safest max angle you guys think I can use for my 44044s. I'm going through the frame with the shackles just like a toyota. Just to give an idea of weight I've got a SBC up front with no inner fenders..if I went with 30 I could get some good droop out of the springs don't want the shackles to be able to invert on me invert on me.

To get max droop without shackle inversion on compression, measure the flat length of the spring. Set the shackle as close to horizontal as you are comfortable with, and make the distance between the main eye bolt and the lower shackle bolt match the flat lenght of the spring.

PRESTO!

SOrry to bring up the old, but I dont want to start a new thread. Getting ready to set my crap up. Does anyone have a measurement for the broke-in flat length, never set up a leaf spring front end besides bolt on crap

Since this thread was brought back up, and since I was in a good mood... for giggles I went down into the garage and measured the springs as they currently sit.

Driver's side is still at 46.125 center to center, the other side sits at 46.5" Can't explain the difference other than everything on the Scout is different side to side :D. But I'd say they have been holding up pretty well under and IH motor, but then I haven't been abusing it much this year :(

Thanks rusto. Yah OS I saw that thread after I went through countles other shit to find it...

So the good way is to have 46.125 in between my front hanger and my shackle near vertical? even if my spring isnt broke in? just put weight on it until I can get the shackle bolt in?
Yes I am a newb.
