OK so I went to replace the EGR valve on my 90 fj62, the EGR broke at the pipe(big nut) can't get the broken part off the cooler tube. afraid if I try to get the other end off the EGR cooler the same thing will happen.

Anyone got any idea's?

Considered welding the open end of the pipe up and blocking off the EGR hole at the intake.......but I can't weld worth a crap and it prolly won't work anyway.

FAWK I HATE this thing

1. Looks like cast iron. Heat the end up cherry red and quench quickly in water. This will make the cast iron brittle so that it will crack with a hammer and chisel. Won't bother mild steel.

2. Plug it and fuggedaboudit.

So what's the chit stuck in the bore of the pipe.

it is cast I think. the chit sticking out is the end of the EGR cooler pipe, the chit stuck in it is the end of the EGR valve, the nut slides over the pipe end and treads to EGR valve. Heating it won't work becuase of the pipe in the center, no place for the cast to crack and brake, if it did brake it would fall into the cooler.

Plugin it. what to plug the pipe end with?

Mark, you have the EGR valve, but I have a new one of those, I need the pipe........but I can't get the pipe off........so I can't get a new one on :(

I HATE this fawking Cruiser!

Pimp, try heating and cooling the nut a couple of times, that in conjunction with some good penetrant *may* get it to move. Cast iron can be welded with high nickel content rod, there should be someone in your neck of the woods who can affect a decent repair...

I'd just eliminate the EGR setup. Problem is I don't know yet if it'll affect anything else negatively. I'm working at it, so hopefully soon I (or someone else) will find out soething.

From what I've read, from multiple places, is that the EGR system lowers the combustion temperatures in the engine significantly. No real data on that, but I do notice that my FJ60s and '76 FJ40 (w/EGR) seem to run cooler than my '71 FJ40 w/'78 2F (w/o EGR).

Bummer on the EGR Tube.

Had the septic serviced last year and the guy was "You know that Charmin stuff mens you need it serviced evyer other year, otherwise should be good for five to seven years". Yep, we had been using the "quilted" Charmin... which was the source of the problem.

I used to be a lic septic installer so I know how to maintain them :) In my case it was a combo of a 50 year old field, fruit tree's planeted between the lines, old clay tile and the extra load that came from Connie moving in.........not like I wasn't expecting it someday. Luckly I already had a new design(freebie) for a 5 bedroom system and a very good freind(actaully he is on PBB) is the installer so that makes things ALOT better and I had the room for the new field already cleared...........like I said I was expecting it.......but not looking forward to it :(

pumped the tank, so that will get me by for the next few weeks, taking showers like your on a boat, pumping my laundry outside into a pit I made.......pissing outside more than before ;)

Very possible. If that's all, it wouldn't hurt me much (if at all), since it takes a great deal longer for my engine to warm up and stay warm since I opened up my exhaust with the straight pipes.
