I'm looking for info for a 4.3 swap into a Toyota, can anyone direct me to a good source? I haven't found what I'm looking for in the search engine. I want an L-35 (195hp), but wonder what years make the best swap candidates.
Thanks!

Stay away from the 98 and newer ones the harness is a pain to modify and if you pay some one they will charge you almost as much as it would cost to buy a painless. Also the 98 and newer ecu has the vats system and you will need a 96-97 ecu or a module to bypass it.If I had it to do again I would go for a 93-95 stay away from the obdII engines unless you are doing a smog legal swap. Also do not use (speed scene wiring) for what ever harness or ecu mods you need done ,I have been waiting almost two months for my ecu that was supposed to take two weeks!! :flipoff:

You are the exception! (Lucky bastard :flipoff2: )
We have three '93 S-10s in the family. One TBI and two are CPI. Nothing but a freak-show with the CPI models :shaking: My Bro swapped one of the CPI's over to a '96 SFI and left all the problems behind.
For a swap I would only consider TBI or a non-vats SFI like the other two guys said.

'96-up is SFI, right? I want as much power as I can get without spending money on buildups, which is why I want the L-35.
Any idea how much weight difference between a 4.3 and 5.7?
Aside from VATS, what's the difference in '98-up and '96-97?
