Heh I got no digital camera but maybe my friend can let me borrow his tomorrow. I originaly didn't want to cut the back lip off the TJ flare but unless I lengthend the wheelbase, the wheel well is just too small. I'm gonna cut where I can and paint the rest black.

I have a page dedicated to TJ flare swap http://members.tripod.com/GRK_Taz/TJ_flares.html

Its kinda funny how alot of Jeeps are now styling the TJ flares. The TJ flare install has caught the XJ market and groing like mad! Its the best way to fit alot larger tires without lifting to the sky. Here are some pics of me cutting away on my grocery getter. I now fit 35's with tons of extra room.............peace

I loved the idea of the TJ flares. I thing they are better than the Bushwacker ones if done correctly, and for a whole less money.
Here is mine, but im planning on doing again to make even better cuts.

Well Cutter, the front was cut the same design as the flare. Yeah it looks like I was drunk but I was just following the flare. As for the rear, I just cut as high as I could and came back in towards the back seat. Then I had to weld the inner fender system to where I cut. Boy you talkin about fun to do. NOT! LOL............peace

I don't like the front TJ fares on XJs. I have a magazine that had an XJ with rear TJ flares all around and it looked awesome. In the front they had it just below the fender line, a bit higher than where you have yours. If I find the magazine I'll scan it in.

From what I've read/seen pics of, those Rusty's flares are way brittle. They just shatter when they come in contact with obstacles. Here's the new Bushwacker flares for XJ's. I like how this thread went from a YJ flare install to a XJ one. :D

I did my flares on my CJ. I did not have to cut the flares in any way to fit the back..

Wow, how do you keep that CJ so clean in KS?

I mean, even Scott's rig is dirty, and he's from CA.

My XJ can flex alittle, I played on a ramp for the first time. I guess in TN you dont see much flexing going on. Alot of much and so forth......peace

This coming from a boy who obviously doesn't know what flex is :flipoff2: to know how it would help.

Know someone that is taking them off or scan 4x4 for sale boards. Ebay is a gaurenteed source as well but it will be the most expensive. I picked mine up for $75 and picked them up myself after an hour+ drive.

The flares from Rusty's suck. I've seen probably 5 different rigs with destroyed flares on them. They might as well be made out of glass.

Personally, I think that they look almost stock. It is is the look you are going for, why not just paint yours in glossy black and throw some rivets in them?

Bushwacker's are awesome, but I can't justify that kind of money on something that I KNOW I would tear off in a few runs. I would like to have a set if they were cheap though.

Maybe I am just too into the whole tube flare thing though....

Yep, cuz flex helps out a bunch on those bypasses that you take right?
