Anybody know anything about the early '80 89MM 5spd OD tranny? Specifically, what was the spline count and transfer case (10 spline NP208?)?:confused:

cant seem to find the link right now but I've read that the 89MM tranny is a piece of sh*t and should not be touched, for whatever reason. some versions were behind the gm 4 cylinder in the s10 trucks. i would stay away from it imho.

Thanks, i've heard different things. I know it's a "light duty" tranny. A friend had one in his half ton and never had a problem with it, but he never "wheeled" either. I'ld really appreciate that link if you could find it.
