I'm doing ball joints on a '78 Ford D44. Neither of my new uppers came with C clips, and it doesn't look like the knuckle is quite flat enough for any to fit there. The shitty Haynes I have doesn't look like there's a clip there either. I had to torch these joints off since my spindle was seized to the knuckle, so I don't know/remember if there was a clip on there to begin with.

Do I need to find another 3/32 to pound that joint down into, or is there only a c clip on the lower? seems odd that there would be only one.

This is what it looks like, and it seems bottomed out and straight.

Ive taken the knuckles off of 2 D44's in the last week and none of them had a clip on the upper ball joint. Looked exactly like the one in your pic. all the lower ones had clips though.

that's reassuring. I'm not going to worry about it, then.

nah I dont have a build thread. I havent been on the computer much since I started the swap, had alot of extra time today because my angle grinder took a crap on me mid-day today. Ill check out yours though. I always like to look at other peoples designs and ideas.
