I'm building a new smallblock for my Jeep. I'm going to use ZZ4 heads with 10.2:1 forged pistons with TPI. I'm having trouble deceiding what cam to use. I'm either going to use the stock 87 Vette, or the LT-4. Has anyone got experience with this cam? I was planning on advancing it 4 degrees to bring the high winding powerband down a little. All comments will be duly considered..
Thanks

Are you talking about GM performance LT4 HOT cam kit?? If so i was wondering the same thing, It does have a reasonable duration as well for low end and a decent top end.

Sorry Ben:
I was talking about the stock LT-4 cam. I've got one for a new 355 I'm building and was wondering if anybody has run one? I was going to advance it 4 degrees, but now I'm think about going with my custom ground Comp Cam with 210/214 duration and 480 lift at 113 LSA and an intake centerline of 112. I was running this in a 327 Large journal with BowTie heads. Now I'm running a 355 with 10.2:1 forged with ZZ4 Aluminum Heads and a 1082 Steel Crank. I really just want to have a smooth running motor, and good gas mileage. I really don't need lots of power with a 2900 pound rig.
I guess I'm just kinda old school running a killer bottom end with an almost stock top end, but what the hell. I used to have a 302 Chevy and still believe in building it strong. I sure am looking forward to running the newer head design with the raise valve cover edge.
