My son and I are traveling to Moab for EJS this march and we would like to know if anybody will also be leaving the Bay area or Sacto area on the Friday before the Safari...If we could join your group for the long drive I would feel safer for the long trip with my son....

I'm thinking about it. Still undecieded. You'd pass by coming through Reno. Although I may take 50 instead of 80 since it's shorter.

How far is Farmington from Moab, a couple of hours and a hundred miles?

We are still undecided as to whether we are going to leave friday afternoon or early saturday morning. Also we drove 50 last year and it is fine until you get into utah, then it makes alot of twists and turns. Some friends took 80 back and said that it was faster, time wise. They were towing trailers with underpowered trucks. As far as driving your rig or using a truck with some nads it's probably a wash on time for both routes. As it gets closer I'll post when we decide on the friday or saturday thing and your more than welcome to run with us. Also we stay in Slickrock, this year in the cabins. Looking forward to it. As my wife says EJS is like disneyland for fourwheelers.
