I am supposed to go to Gorman tommorow to shoot some video for work. What is it like? I am thinking a few hill climbs and a crapload of dust. Am I wrong? Are there any rocks out there? It seems like a waste to take the Jeep if there aren't any. Might as well take the company Colorado.

Thanks.

Are you talking about Hungry Valley? (Smokey Bear exit off the 5 fwy). I go there for amateur astronomy (was there for the recent Perseid meteor shower), & I see a lot of offroad vehicles. Motorcycles, ATVs, PUs, etc.

I see a lot of sandy areas, but I haven't really searched out the OHV scene.

Yup, hungry valley. No idea what is out there. I will look into the Miller Jeep trail though. We are taking the SD and either my Jeep or a Z71 Colorado. I'll see what I feel like at the crack of dawn on a Sat. (Hangover is likely) :flipoff2:

Hungry Valley SVRA itself is pretty tame overall. Its mostly geared for 2-wheelers. There's plenty of room to play around though, mostly with rutted dirt "badlands" type hills. The ony rocks are in the rock garden in the practice area. Depending on how you're set up though and how recently they've re-stacked it, that rock garden can be some pretty serious shit. There are a couple of steep hill climbs as well. But nothing on the order of rocky TRAILS. However you can go a short distance and do Lockwood/Miller, which has some nice rocky challenges. Still not hard-core status but a lot of fun nonetheless. If your rig has a cooling problem it will rear its ugly head during the long climb up Miller's. Here's some pix from the area:

Hungry Valley SVRA a couple years ago (http://www.dustyland.net/broncos/scb-0208-hungryvalley/index.html)

and

Miller Jeep Trail last year with some playing at HV at the end (http://www.dustyland.net/broncos/scb-0308-lockwoodmiller/index.html)

Its a fun place to play but not when its too hot.

I know you've probably allready gone and seen it for yourself, but I figered I'd ad some info for future searchers.

Miller/ Lockwood is the only real trail there but just about anyone with 4 wheel drive can make it through the trail. However this trail is closed most of the year (winter - to much snow/water damage) and Summer- high fire danger :( There is 3-4 months a year that the trail is open.

Dusty, Tim thanks a bunch.

I went, played in the rocks and on the hills. Had some fun on one of the rock piles. 4 tires spin, 4 rocks move, 4 big holes.

Watched a group of Rally cars running through the hills, that looks like a good time!
