Im getting this noise coming from my Bronco and i cant pinpoint where its coming from. It sounds like a cross between a Belt loose and a bearing going out. It hapens when im moving. If i give the bronco a little gas, most of it goes away, if i let off the gas and coast thats when most of it occurs, it gets even worse when i press in the clutch. The slower i go though, the less it squeaks when i have the clutch in. Anyone heard of this before?
Also i have a sticking drum on my rear axle and we cant pound it off, we actually broke a small lip off the drum. Anyone have a trick for unfreezing these? Where do you measure on the drum to determine if its the 11" or 10" drum? Inside or outside diamter?
on the outside of the drum(side againts the wheel) there will be cast in writing around the edge. it will say something like 'Max size 10.060' or 'Max size 11.060' this will tell you if it is 10" or 11".
To get it off the shaft I've HEARD of using this trick but never tried it myself. take a small propane gas torch and warm up the face of the drum around the shaft. as it warms it should expand the id and break away from the rust that is holding it on. As for the squeecking...dunno, double check the U-joints in the driveline for play, grease everything that you cen reach. pull the d-shafts down to grease the CV joint.
Good luck,

Just a guess but the squeeking could be a throw-out bearing getting ready to go out.

I dont know how it could be the Throwout bearing, i just replaced it last year when i put in my new clutch from RAM. Also it should squeak whenever i have the clutch in and the motors running, but it doesnt do that, it only squeaks when im moving. Also it doesnt squeak when im moving in reverse. Ill check those U joints out, im putting a new axle under it anyway so theyll all be replaced.

Squeaky u-joint or CV noise. Lock the front in, pull the rear driveline out and take a quick spin around the block. If the noise is gone BINGO!

I think its my transmission going dead. I get a bad noise when i gear down, and it just sounds like its from the transmission. I added gear oil to the tranny, it took quite a bit, but that didnt quiet it down much. hopefully thats not it though.
