I did a serch!! I have a 80cj7 with a 350/sm420/d300 SOA and am now putting new axles in "FW44/60" I already have the 44 and am looking for a 60 but all the 60's I can find around here are out of fords and the diff if I were to use it would be offset 6in to the p-side from the output of the x-fer case. Now with that sed would it give me problems to run it like that? or do in need one that would line up better.
O by the way FLAME THIS!!!!:flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Why don't you look for a FF Chevy 14 bolt? Detroits for it are cheap, weldin it up is even cheaper. They are as strong or stronger than a D60. Cheap and easy to find.
As for the angle with a offset 60 I wouldn't do it...

Gettin good used equipment isn't so tough, our local wrecking yard has all kinds of em but wants toooo much money for em. I simply watched the classifieds and picked up a complete 3/4 ton 85 suburban that runs like a top for $500.00!!! With a deal like that you don't even need a trailer to haul your axles home, just get in and drive!!!

like said before get yourself a 14 bolt and save yourself a lot of trouble. you can shave it and have the same clearance as the 60.

maybe cause the 14 bolt weighs as much as the jeep? too big unless you are running tires over 40 inches. plus if he is only running a 44 in front, its a bit over kill. then he need to grind his wheels or run 16's.

But he is looking to run a D60 in the rear.
Oh ya a D60 is soooo much lighter than a 14 bolt. :flipoff2:
Since he is looking for a D60 odds are his front 44 is a 3/4 ton unit. So he will have to grind to run 15's or use 16's anyway... Besides a 8 lug 15" rim clears the drums on a 14 bolt. If he does a disc swap 15" rims aren't a big deal to make fit either.

Actualy the 44 is only going to be there for a while I'm eventualy going to go 60 up front to. I'm only planing to run 38's I might think about 40's but I doubt I would get some. What are the specs on a 60 out of a Dodge? If I could find one for cheep would that be a better choice? The reason I was asking about the ford 60 is because I could pick one up for only $100 bucks. The junk yards around here rarely have chevy's and when they do they are already picked clean. but if someone happend to have a 14bolt for cheep I would not be apposed to buying it:D

My 9" is offset about that much to the P side to I had 11" at one time and no problems even then now I dropped the Jeep to 8" 1/2 and still no probs as a matter of fact the old Wyllie wagons came like that from the factory.
But then again I only use 35" tires W/ a spoll in a SOA set up on AZ Trails.

depends on what angle the u joint at the diff will be running at. if you have a cv, long shaft (30" or longer) and run the pinion at maybe 1 or 2 degrees below the driveshaft angle you should be fine. i have a 3" offset diff with a 27" shaft and have no problems. you should be able to find the 3" offset pretty easy, found my 70 in a 2wd ford long bed. hope that helps.:D
