ok i am auto tranny ignorant and i have a question. i just got a th400 that i put in my jeep and it has one wire running to the drivers side and i don't know what it does. what is it and what do i need to hook it to? thanks

ok i have found out that it is for a passing gear. now question 2: i have a 99 vortec 350 so how would i wire a switch to make it work?

It is for the kickdown. You can get a kit from B&M or leave it off.

The kickdown kit should still work with the Vortec. You might have to fab a bracket to hold the switch, or use a bracket for a carbed kickdown. The one from the 4L60 TV cable might work.

my jeep is primarily and off-road rig so would i need it? i found the kit you are talking about in summit.

It would be handy to have. That way you wont have to manually kick down to get passing gear. If it isn't hooked up, it won't cause any damage.

My bro and his GMC van has it on the gas pedel bracket
a budy has a 400 in his IH pickup with a caddy 425 and it's switch was on the carb
oh and congrats you just got your self one of the strogest autos ever built

strong is what i have been striving for. 1ton axles, 350 from a 99 1ton (not that it is any better than a 1/2ton 350 but hey it's from a 1ton!), tranny is from a 1ton, and if my atlas would ever get here i'll be set! :D
