So here is the deal and what I know about it. A fellow scouter wanted power steering, so he called Out Back and purchased everything from them he needed to do the conversion. They told him all the parts had been rebuilt and charged him accordingly, like 450 by the time he got it. So he brings it over for me to install for him, I take a look at what they sent and not one piece was rebuilt. They had cleaned an area just big enough to put their mark on the parts and that was it. I feel pretty bad for the guy as I feel they fawked him dry. Would anyone here be just a bit pissed? 450 for used wore the fawk out parts...I think not, Am I out of line here? Does anyone else feel this guy got unduely fawked? I know he will be contacting them, I sure hope they make it right, I just can't believe an IH parts suplier would pull this kind of shit.....Your thoughts?

sounds like fraud. If the transaction was through the mail wouldn't that be a federal offense?

That really sucks i would call them up and let them know your not happy, i think my Napa rebuilt box/pump/borg joint and new lines was cheaper than $450.00

No, he got reamed. How can you possibly rebuild a box (or anything) without cleaning it first? That's bullshiot...

Not a chance in hell, The top was never removed from the steering box nor was the pitman are. They didn't take shit apart, all the threads on every bolt were full of crap, looked like they pulled the parts out of a mudpuddle. The pump still had nasty fluid and was definatly not removed from the resivor.

Looks like sheite, smells like sheite, must be sheite! Hey, for those prices for used parts, my sheite is worth a fortune! Anyone want a rebuilt rag-joint for $50? :rasta:

I run a little back yard salvage yard and sell used parts. at least I clean the grease off and drain the old fluids. Maybe you should send them a tube of KY so it doesn't hurt the next sucker so bad. You might try Kamp implement in Bozeman Mt., They usually have the parts I have needed and are very informative on scouts.

Thanks,

I've been in "lurk" mode for some time now, but finally created myself a profile so I can participate on occassion. I'm a long-time poster over at binderbulletin, since about '97 anyway. Got a bunch of Scouts, grew up in Mt. Shasta, doing the grad school thing in engineering at UC Davis, so getting involved with this group since you're nearby.

Cheers,
Sean

Hey all,

New to the board, here. I'm the guy who got fawked w/o lube on the power steering unit. Outback is refunding my money, but isn't paying the shipping. So I learn the 30.00 lesson. Funny, the guy didn't want to admit what a reeming it is to sell a used crusty part for 400.00, even though he knows it is just that. Anyway, live and learn (I guess). Look forward to chattin' with folks here!

That is all Fawked up. I cannot believe a company can stay alive by screwing people in that way. Who are these folks so the rest of us can avoid dealing with them?

Just a little update regarding Outback...I shipped their parts back, they received them yesterday at 10:51 a.m. Still have received no credit to my account. Also, I shipped the parts back next day insured - just as they were shipped to me, and it costed $21.00. Funny, I was billed 29.00 in shipping when they came to me. Nice.

Could be that it takes an extra day for the transaction to hit my account...I'll be looking for the credit on Monday.

Chuck,

Don,t worry. One thing I learned a long time ago is RJ always gives refunds. How do ya think he stays in business for 22 years or so? (I guess the quick refunds help) He always has the used parts although you will pay, and pay, and pay.

Chuck thanks for calling. I will take care of ya. Let me know when the credit goes through.

Thanks for sharing your tale.
