Does anybody know where I can get a TH400, modified trans pan to clear my FJ40 front drive line. Right know the pan I have, I had to beat in the side,It works but not happy with it.

You need to take the pan and cut out a notch to clear the driveshaft. I would recommend you use a 3 speed driveshaft in the front for more clearance. Cut the pan and weld some new sheet metal. Using a hammer is not a good idea.

I thought about doing that.
I would like to get a deeper pan for more fluid, any suggestions.

I notice you have a D300 Xcase in there.
Does the adapter for Toy interchange with the 300? I know I will need a spud shaft. D60 Diff isnt In the org place, slitatly towards center abit. Cause dutchman doesnt make a longer axle for the long side. So it seems like I can go ether or with out to big of a problem.
With the 300 I could get gears if I dont have to buy an adapter.

the main problem with the smaller line in that pic is its got a tendancy to want to break the welds when pushed- i would stay away from trany pan mods they usually leak - there is a tight clearance long travel system we can make- 1 5/8 diameter but solid spline that goes right past your tight spot- Jess

Hey jess, Your Dad made that shaft in the picture. :D

I notice you have a D300 Xcase in there.

Fooled ya, look again it's a Dana 18 with the 3.15 to 1 tera gears and the twin stick setup with 2wd low.

which is stronger 300 or d18 or Lc 3spd?
Im wondering- cause I have a spare 3spd Xcase( both Lc I have are the stronger Xcases) a d18 and a d300. Kinda wondering cause I would'nt mind changing, if it benefits me. How much would it cost to change over?

Here's the funny part- i actually made that shaft if it was 6 years ago- i did most of the work at my dad's shop- i've learned a little sence then - but i'm suprised its still holdin - it all depends on who is driving and how they drive i guess- thanks for bringing that up- Jess

Jess, I was wrong about when..time flies when your having fun...more like eight years ago but hey I'll take the driving compliment anyhow and will say it's a hell of a shaft whoever made it. It's been all over and let's just say that I'm aware of it constantly and thus try to take care of it. I have busted a couple of joints at the tcase side but the shaft has survived fine.

Arnett, The 300 and 18 are about comparable (case strength) I believe other than the 18 wears the gears out much faster cause their always turning. If you have a 300 I would go with that cause you can do alot to it cheap.
