: Bronco Rear Bumper

Greetings all.

I am looking for aftermarket rear bumpers for the late model 80-94 Bronco - OJ style.

I have a customer who wants me to fab a rear bumper and tire carrier. His Bronco is in great shape and is used to access the family ranch in the mountains. Not a crawler, more just a competent forest trail rig. The existing tire carrier is attached to the body and with a 35" tire bounces around too much.

I would like to see what bumpers are available on the market, as that may be the best value. Otherwise our shop will fab something for him.

Needs to sit above the existing receiver, needs to allow access to rear tailgate. Tire carrier must be mounted to the bumper not the frame.

Any recommendations, or specific vendors I should try?

I did search and have checked out - Bluetorch fab, James Duff, Smittybilt, JC Whipme.

Any others?

Many thanks
Grant

IMO a custom one would be the best bet. You can get all the things just right that u want on it and you will save some $$

It will cost you in the neighborhood of $600 for one made by a good custom outfit in GA or NV. I'm not on my comp so don't have the links. I'll post them later. You could save some bucks if you could do them yourself.

Rear bumpers for the 80-96 Broncos like you want are near non-existant! I have been searching for one, but it seems as though i will have to have one custom made. If you are a fabricator, do one up, post some pics and a price, and i may be buying one from you also.

What's to keep you from adapting a rear bumper from a 78-79 Bronc? The frame widths are the same, right?? Are body dimensions so much different that it wouldn't work?

If adapting a bumper is an option, JBG sells a pretty nice looking tube bumper that can be had with jerry can and tire mounts. They are here (http://broncograveyard.com/products/cat/18/132) towards the bottom of the page.

Thanks for the replys, much appreciated. I don't feel bad now at not finding much aftermarket stuff.

I will probably do a custom bumper over the next couple of months and will take pictures as we go.

Thanks again
