I know it is a dumb ass opened question, but I am being offered 3 20 ft tubes of 1 3/4 dom .125 thick. I also may be able to get some sticks of seamed tubing, all for free. :grinpimp: Its leftover tubing from the cages for some movie stunt cars. I just want to get an idea of how much tubing you guys have used so I can get enough for my setup while the price is right. No time to do a good search now.

Thanks for that useful advice Bama  Can anyone throw me a rough number of how many feet they used, I don't want to be too greedy

Depends on what kind of cage you are going to build, for example, do you plan on having front and rear passenegr protection? If you are going to protect the whole rig, i.e. a safari cage, I would think you will probably need the entire 60 feet and maybe more. If you can get all the DOM, I wouldn't waste your time with the seamed. It also depends on if you will have door bars, multiple stringers, shoulder bar, bar across the dash, etc. 60 feet would be a good start for a safari cage. I would also check on the availability of more of the same from another source, just in case 60 isn't enough-- but it should be. It is always better to have too much than not enough.

I use 60' ~ or 3 20' lengths ~ on a normal cage kit, so I'd figure you'll need at least 6 lengths since when your doing a one-off job, it takes twice the tube as you plan :D

If you bend it just right, you can store it on my Scout. :flipoff2:

60 would be tight, 80 better, 100 to be safe & have some left over.
All depends on how you build it... (simple to complex/competition ready).

I used around 70 I think for mine (in my 80).
Not a family cage, but I also incorporated seat mounts....

You save a lot of tube if you do an "A" pillar to "C" pillar bend like yours. ;)
