Well, I not too long ago I bought an 88 Bronco w/ 5.0l and what I think is the AOD. The rear main was leaking so I dropped the Transmission and T-case to replace it. Well, just put it all back together and changed the Trans filter and went for a test drive.

That is when the trouble started, the transmission shifts great going into reverse and nuetral but when I put it in OD or D, it goes into first, but never shifts into the next gear. It may shift into what feels like second, but it's deffinatley not shifting into drive or OD. Does anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this?

TIA, Will

Does it make sense that even with the TV cable disco'd, it still won't shift out of first? This damn thing is kicking my ass!

curse it to hell i have had that exact problem, my drinking buddy hooked me up (literally)

when mine was doing that the vacuum line that goes to the tranny was dissconnected, i thought my poor old 74 was dying but he revived her and breathed life into my old iron.

mine would drive good, but not shift gears until it was hooked back up.
it was somewhere at the back of the top of the motor.

wretched thing

IIRC the TV cable controls all shift points, unlike the kickdown on older trannies which only controls downshifts the TV cable controls upshifts and downshifts, and if it isn't properly adjusted it will destroy the tranny in short order.
