Boring, yes. Hardcore, no. I just bough this Scout, have done nothing to it, but wanted to show it off. Pic link:

Looks like 35's and fender trimming are in order ~ you may want to do something with that Steering. I'd say replace the axles after they break under the 35s~!

Looks like you have a pretty good starting point.

Yeah, I haven't decided which way to go with this one yet. I have a '75 Bronco that is injected with a Tera Low'd Dana 20, locker, 35" MTRs, full cage, etc. I thought about making this one a simple resto-mod,rather than chucking 90% of the drivetrain and beating up another innocent 800. I could get a Scout II cheap for a drivetrain swap, but all I'd be ending up with would be the body. Which wouldn't be terrible if it didn't have a good drivetrain and a better body. It does have a bit of a head start with a springover and a disc conversion. I think I'm going to patch it up and drive it, then swap out stuff I can't stand. I've got a bender and have bought and sold 4 Suzukis and 2 Toyotas in the past couple of years. I'd rather beat one of those up than a decent old Scout.
