Anyone have one? Worth a shit?

Im going to see about trading in a couple of my snappy boxes(3 or 4) and get a mb6525 or something like that. I need a smaller one for over in one of the other shops.

I tried to find the one I have on their site. I think its the 7 drawer economy single bottom. Its built thicker than what I've seen with other "economy" boxes. I've got no complaints. A guy at the shop I used to work at started with one of Matco's smaller double bottom boxes and traded up several times and ended up with a huge double bottom. Every one was reasonable as far as price/quality. Both single and double bottoms make nice work benches. Not too tall. Bang for the buck, I'd buy another.

they are ok boxes but once you own a snappy as you do it is hard to settle for less. I tried and just couldn't stand it :D

their top of the line maxamiser is actually a great box and priced right

I dont know how long its been since you have seen any of there stuff, but their newer stuff is IMO top notch! Having been a Snap-On tool box person for 3 boxes, I had some bent drawers and what not. Traded it in for a Matco box of equal line quality, priced less, and am more satisfied! I wouldn't go backto a Snap-On box if they traded me straight across, or sold one to me @ a comparable price.

I have a set of Matco boxes I bought in 1983. They've been bounced across the country and back twice with no problems. The slides still work great. They may have cheapened up since mine were made, but mine are easily the equivalent of anything Snap On made.

I went from Snap on to Matco for boxes for 3 reasons. Price. PowderCoat. Thicker steel. The shipping weight of the 7500 series bottem I have is 200 lb's higher than the same size snap on. I think the snap ons are 18 quage and the matco's are 16, thats from memory tho'. I do know its a thicker, heavier box. I also like the fact you can custom configure drawers and colors. The slides on the matco I like better too, the lock on snap on that has the slide thing under the handle is a pain in the ass. Matco's slides have a small detent in the closed position.

Just threw the calipers on my 7500 series bottem, .056 wall, threw 'em on Dougs snap on, .035 wall. Little difference in thickness. :D

They have really improved the box line. The thing I really like is the pricing. I can spend more on tools this way, the lock sets are also very nice, flat key style instead of the old round and standard key sets from the snap on's. Dont get me wrong, snap on makes a nice box, but its over priced for what it is IMHO. You should check 'em out Camo, then you can spend MO MONEY on snapper stuff to fill it. :flipoff2:

Camo, a lot of Matco stuff has gotten nicer over the last few years. I actually like the Matco swivel impact sockets because they are slimmer and fit into tighter spaces. Plus the make a mid lenght 3/8's set that seems to be just right for everything. Priced very well compared to Snap-On.

They also make a nice set of box wratchets with a fixed box wrench on the other side - nice setup.

Having said that, I have a 6 foot KRL snap on box and I love it, for me it was worth the extra cost.

Somehow, I can't see you buying the new "Spiderman" box Matco has :flipoff2: Talk about a silly way to spend money, a Spiderman toolbox, although, I suppose it is just a big kid's lunch box :D
